Women Empower Member Information
The Centre was founded
by a group of volunteers led by Senator Helen Gordon Davis in
1977. The Centre, known originally as The Women’s Survival
Center, began offering services in 1978. Each year the Centre
serves more than 4,000 women, children, seniors, and families
in Hillsborough County. Our core programs -- Centre for Girls,
Project Recovery, Senior Home Improvement Program (SHIP),
Family Service Association, Employment Services, and Elderlink
are funded primarily through Government and private grants,
and annual contributions.The Centre is accredited
by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations.
