Women Empower Member Information

PARC is a nonprofit serving developmentally disabled people. We turn disabilities into capabilities. We have over 400 employees and over 600 clients who visit PARC daily to take part in our day care and adult learning opportunities.
We are also looking for strategic partners who are forward thinking and want to find ways to help PARC earn income while promoting their business and making a difference.

We also employ 200 clients in PARC Center Industries where we contract with businesses to do the repetitive work that their employees are bored doing.

Do you love to get up every morning and go to work? I do! I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have every day to contribute to improving life for people with developmental disabilities at PARC!

My career started as a Police Officer in Ohio and after 13 years, I moved to Florida.

I then worked in Corporate Security for Eckerd Drugs. I was fortunate in meeting Jack Eckerd who has always been my idol in the business world. He was the champion in treating all people with respect and consideration.

Owning my own business for a few years was exciting and challenging. While I loved part of it, I found it isolating and demanding. I was the worst boss I ever had!

At HSN I was a customer service manager. I had 8 supervisors and around 250 people reporting to me. Retail TV is a fun and challenging business.

So after public service, being an entrepreneur and in the corporate environment, for the past year and a half I have been working for PARC. Who could imagine the benefit of those business contacts in the non-profit world? This is truly my dream job. How wonderful to wake up every day and know that you can make a difference! Happiness is a job later in life that has passion and purpose!

PARC is an amazing organization with a rich history of service to the developmentally disabled. The over 600 individuals that come to PARC daily are excited to gain new skills, participate in fun activities and socialize with their peers. The adults experience a warm and nurturing environment while the children in the Discovery Learning Center get ready to enter public schools. You must come to PARC and tour. While touring, you will meet the friendly, charming and inspiring people who participate and thrive in an exciting environment. For a tour, please contact: Nancy Giles 727-341-6909
